REACH OUT

To Friends of REACH

Our objective for REACH OUT is to ask people in the community to join friends of REACH by registering on our website. There is no obligation or cost but when we have needs of goods or services we would send out an email request. Goods might be kitchen goods, pot and pans or maybe a microwave, new or gently used. We sometimes need a bed or furniture for a house. Services might be someone with a truck to help move the furniture or handyman services to troubleshoot a dishwasher.

It would be great to have groups of service offers so when we need a light fixed we could send out a request to those ten people or send a request specific to those who offered to help with a truck when needed.

REACH for Special Adults of the Tri-Valley is a marriage of HOUSE, Inc. and Tri-Valley Special Needs Fund.

HOUSE, Inc. was established in 1990 by a group of concerned family members of developmentally disabled who wanted their loved ones to be able to live locally. The groups' goal was to provide safe, quality living environments where our residents learned self efficiency and lived with dignity and respect.

TRI-VALLEY SPECIAL NEEDS was launched several years ago to provide a holistic approach to address nutrition, fitness, social and educational opportunities for this same community.

REACH for Special Adults of the Tri-Valley is a non profit 501(c)3 organization. Tax ID #94-3158507.

What we Hope To Do In The Future

Roughly 3% (or 1,000+) citizens in the Tri-Valley are adults with developmental challenges and they need a voice to ensure their currently under-supported needs are met. Our goals are to:

  • Acquire new property to meet the needs of the Tri-Valley population who we serve
  • Roll out the REACH sponsored Nutrition Training Program through the recently trained trainers from the Support Agencies in our community
  • Develop a network to provide families with appropriate resources, information and support for their specific situation such as legal services, job opportunities and housing
  • Bring significantly more joy to the lives of the developmentally challenged of the Tri-Valley

MISSION

REACH is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of each individual we support by helping them achieve their fullest potential. Our mission is to provide resources, education, activities, community participation and housing opportunities that will enable adults with developmental challenges to approximate the pattern of everyday living available to people without disabilities.
